MA Hunter Education Courses

Basic Hunter Ed: This course is required for anyone who wishes to obtain their first time hunting license. For more information or to enroll contact the MA Hunter Education Program Office at (508) 389-7830 or check out the program web pages on the MassWildlife website
The Ashfield Rod & Gun Club hosts hunter education courses administered by the MA Division of Fisheries and Wildlife. Our club has a dedicated team of volunteer instructors who conduct between 1-2 Basic Hunter Education courses per year. In the past the club has also hosted Trapper Education, and Bow Hunter Education courses. We hope to continue and expand course offerings at our location. Anyone interested in taking a hunter education course or becoming a Volunteer Instructor should contact the MA Hunter Education Program office.
Scholarship Program
We offer Mohawk Trail Regional High School, and club affiliated graduating high school seniors an opportunity to receive an academic scholarship of up to $500. In order to be eligible the student must have been accepted to an accredited institution and matriculated into a major related to environmental conservation. Contact the club for further details regarding eligibility and the application process.
MA & VT Kids Conservation Camp
Sponsorship funding is available for club affiliated youth interested in attending summer conservation camp in either MA or VT. If you are a club member in good standing and have a child or grandchild who may be interested in attending one of these camps please contact the club for more details. Camp enrollment fills up quickly; we recommend you contact us no later than December to attend camp the following summer.
