Game Dinner A Great Success Once Again
Many thanks to everyone who came out to support the club at our annual game dinner on March 25th. The event sold out early as usual, and the clubhouse filled to capacity. Plenty of food and fun was had by all and Pat Thayer even went home with a new shotgun! Bob Phillips and the rest of the kitchen crew outdid themselves. Thanks to all who contributed to the event.
Basic Hunter Education Course Graduates 29
The Basic Hunter Education Course hosted at the club on March 28th, and April 15th graduated 29 people. The course went smoothly with eight different instructors contributing. Thanks to Will and Pat Thayer who cooked us a great lunch sponsored by the club.
Ice Fishing Derby
We had perfect weather for the annual kids ice fishing derby held February 18th on Ashfield Lake. We had at least 60 registered kids attend, and looking out on the lake it appeared that there were more who hadn't registered enjoying it as well. The club stocked 200 trout prior to the derby and a record number were caught (21) along with plenty of other species native to the lake. The lunch and presentation at Sanderson Academy was well attended and we got to hear an interesting talk on fisheries management by MassWildlife Fisheries Biologist Leanda Fontaine Gagnon.

** WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY REQUESTS FOR CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS AS OF 4/20/17. IF INTERESTED CONTACT THE CLUB ASAP!**
The ARGC has scholarship money available to help send youth to conservation camp in either MA or VT each summer. The time to apply for camp is upon us; applications must be turned in early each year as the camps can only take a limited number of people, and the spaces fill up quickly. If you have a young adult interested in the outdoors, shooting, archery, camping, hunting , fishing, forestry, wildlife, etc. then these camps might be a fun summer time activity for them. Scholarships are available to youths directly affiliated with club members (child, grandchild, etc.) If you have a question regarding eligibility, please contact the club. The BOD will make the final determination. For more information about each camp, go to the Education page on our website and follow the links to the camp websites.
