Ice Fishing Derby Results
There was a great turnout for the 26th Annual ARGC Kids Ice Fishing Derby on February 10th 2018 at Ashfield Lake. There were 60 kids who registered, and they caught over two dozen fish, mostly trout. The weather cooperated with mild temperatures and very little wind. Club volunteers were on hand to help out new comers who had never ice fished before by drilling holes and helping set up equipment. Afterward we were warmed by a hearty meal at Sanderson Academy cooked up by more club volunteers. Prizes were handed out, and guests got to watch a great presentation on Black Bears by MassWildlife Biologist Nate Buckhout. We also had a surprise presentation by two time MA Angler Of The Year, and multi-world record holder fisherman Roy Leyva. Roy is a Shimano Pro fishing representative, and gave a brief presentation on fishing opportunities and then drew a door prize of a $180 Shimano spin fishing outfit.

** WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY REQUESTS FOR CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS AS OF 2/16/18. IF INTERESTED CONTACT THE CLUB ASAP!**
The ARGC has scholarship money available to help send youth to conservation camp in either MA or VT each summer. The time to apply for camp is upon us; applications must be turned in early each year as the camps can only take a limited number of people, and the spaces fill up quickly. If you have a young adult interested in the outdoors, shooting, archery, camping, hunting , fishing, forestry, wildlife, etc. then these camps might be a fun summer time activity for them. Scholarships are available to youths directly affiliated with club members (child, grandchild, etc.) If you have a question regarding eligibility, please contact the club. The BOD will make the final determination. For more information about each camp, go to the Education page on our website and follow the links to the camp websites.
